OurLead Artists are multi-talented professional artists, many of whom started with us as Apprentices at Artstart.

Lead Artists are mentors in project planning and excellence in art-making

Artstart Leads manage individual commissions, creating, directing, and delegating to the apprentices and assistant lead artists working on the project. They are responsible for the overall quality of design and execution of their assigned job, including communication with our Program Director and the client, making sure the vision is realized.

Most importantly, Leads are responsible for the mentorship of their apprentices, who will be learning professional art practice through their involvement in the completion of the commission.

If you are interested in working collaboratively with other artists, imparting artistic wisdom on a younger generation of creatives, and love the daily problem solving that goes into executing large-scale installations, we would love to hear from you!

Assistant Lead Artists

Assistant Lead Artists help with all aspects of a project under the direction of the Lead Artist.

Teaching Artists

Teaching Artists are hired as contractors during sessions to teach a particular style or medium to apprentices and youth interns, usually over one or two weeks.
