Mural Design: Alina Nuebel
The Making of the Mural:
October 2021 - March 2022
It started with visits to the mural site to take measurements and photos and get a feel for the space.
With the leadership and guidance of artist Chris McKee, work continued at the Artstart studio with a hard-working and talented team of teen apprentices, Artstart artists, Chop's Teen Club members, and community volunteers.
Working with input from the Assistance League of Sonoma County, sketches were made and revised and a final design was selected. The team prepped mural panels, mixed paint colors, and began painting! The panels were then moved from the Artstart studios to the installation site.
Over the course of several weekends, Chris and the team built the framework for the mural and installed the mural panels. The final touch was covering the entire mural with an anti-graffiti coating.
This project was made possible by funding from the Assistance League of Sonoma County
Additional support provided by the Miranda Lux Foundation and the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation.
